What happens during the free 27-point diagnostic.

It takes about three to four hours, and it's the reason the estimate you get is accurate. If you decide not to go ahead, you pick the vehicle up and owe nothing.

  1. Computer scan

A scan tool reads the transmission's electrical system and stored codes.

  2. Fluid check

Level and condition of the fluid tell us a lot before anything comes apart.

  3. Road test

A technician drives it and works to reproduce exactly what you've been feeling.

  4. On the lift

We drop the pan or pull the inspection plug and look at the transmission itself.

  5. Your estimate

You get an accurate number and decide. Go ahead, or pick it up free of charge.

“A diesel mechanic informed me my transmission and transfer case needed to be replaced. Wizard took a look and told me they could not find any significant issues and recommended to do nothing. Adam did not charge me.”

Questions people ask before they call.

How much does a transmission diagnostic cost at Wizard Transmission?
Nothing. Every vehicle gets a free 27-point inspection and diagnostic scan. It takes about three to four hours: a computer scan, a fluid check, a road test, then a look inside on the lift. You get an accurate estimate, and if you decide not to go ahead, you pick the vehicle up at no charge.
Why can't you quote a transmission repair over the phone?
There are more than ten times as many transmission designs on the road as there were twenty years ago, many with several versions, and nearly all are computer controlled. The problem may not be in the transmission at all. An honest number means identifying the exact unit and finding the actual fault, and that takes testing in the shop.
What warranty comes with a transmission rebuild?
Rebuilds carry a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty that is honored nationwide through ATRA's Golden Rule program. After a rebuild, the fluid, filter and flush are done free every year for as long as you own the vehicle. A 3-year, 100,000-mile upgrade is available if you ask.
Do you tow vehicles to the shop?
Yes. Towing is free in most cases within the Denver metro area, and available at a competitive or reduced rate from outside the city. Call 303-733-8494 to set it up.
Do you work on RVs, motorhomes and diesels?
Yes. The shop has a lift rated for more than 30,000 lb for RVs and motorhomes, and works on foreign and domestic cars, trucks, SUVs and diesels. Towing rigs and high-performance cars can get a custom rebuild, including an auxiliary transmission cooler.
What are the signs a transmission needs attention?
Gears that are hard to engage or slip in drive, an engine that races, grinds or shakes, a manual clutch that isn't working right, reddish fluid under the vehicle, a sweet burning smell, or a Check Engine light. Any of these is worth a free diagnostic before it turns into a bigger repair.

Bring it in, or have it towed in.

Call ahead and we'll plan for your vehicle. The diagnostic is free, and nothing gets fixed until you say so.
